Seven years into their marriage, Keiichiro and his wife Maia have no children, and their relationship has grown strained due to her demanding job. One day, Maia suddenly leaves home. Distraught over her disappearance, Keiichiro visits his stepmother Ririko, but with no clue about Maia's whereabouts, he sinks into guilt and self-blame. Seeing her stepson's suffering, Ririko realizes her daughter has been causing him pain, prompting her to confront feelings she had long ignored.
