Koneko Ayami and her son George return to Japan after a divorce incident during their life in the United States. The two vow to start anew, but George struggles to adapt to Japanese culture and becomes truant. He finds support in Goto, a kind-hearted classmate, whose warmth gradually helps George regain his spirits. Meanwhile, Ayami finds herself drawn to Goto, her son's friend, and begins seeing him as a man for the first time.
